Artist Description
Group Abstraction is the struggle for power--both through the relationship of light and dark, and the ways in which the figures contend for centrality in the composition. Somehow the tantalizing tension between all of these conflicting elements creates harmony. Group Abstraction emulates the state of the unconscious. In the human psyche, competing motives, thoughts and feelings spar for the chance to surface to conscious awareness--yet despite oppositional, and even paradoxical thoughts and feelings, an integration of these disparate pieces occurs to create psychic harmony.
